A fun award: Robert Johnson, Influence partner and communications professor at American University in Washington, DC, teaches a capstone class helping students understand real-world communications challenges by working with actual clients.
This past semester, Johnson led his PR capstone class to victory in the Public Communication Capstone Awards by introducing them to Bethel Woods Campground and guiding them through the creation of a strategic plan. Their plan was judged by PR professionals from organizations such as World Resources Institute, U.S. Senate, and AARP, winning the award for the best undergraduate portfolio project.
